Don't Let Your Adventure Become a Medical Emergency
The thrill of a lifetime—an Amazonian trek, a safari in the Serengeti, or a family reunion in South Asia—can be derailed in a single afternoon.
While most travellers focus on packing and itineraries, the most critical "gear" you can carry is your immunity. According to the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) and the CDC (Centre for Disease Control), international travel inherently exposes you to pathogens your body has never encountered.
Without a pre-travel consultation, you aren't just taking a trip; you’re taking a gamble with your health and your finances.

The Real Risks: What the Data Reveals
Relying on "common sense" isn't enough when facing global health threats. Expert-led pre-travel consultations are proven to reduce your risk of serious infection and hospitalization.

Malaria remains one of the most severe threats to Canadian travellers. Per JTM up to 90% of imported malaria cases occur in travellers who did not seek or follow professional pre-travel advice. With the right preventative medication prescribed during your consult, your protection rate can soar to 98%.
Hepatitis A is a silent threat in contaminated food or water even in luxury resorts. It is the most common vaccine-preventable disease in travellers. PHAC reports that nearly half of all Hepatitis A cases in Canada are travel-related and a single vaccine dose provides roughly 95% protection.
Yellow Fever is a health risk and vaccination is a legal requirement for entry to many regions of South America and Africa. The vaccine is 99% effective and missing it could result in denied entry or, worse, a life-threatening illness with a 50% mortality rate for those who develop the severe form.
Traveler’s Diarrhea (TD) affects approximately 30% to 70% of international travellers and may result in 3–5 days of lost vacation time. A consultation provides you with prophylactic medications, strategies for prevention and "stand-by" antibiotics for treatment, if needed.
Medical Costs Abroad: Did you know the cost of skipping a consult can be as high as $2000-4000 USD/day in private international clinics or $100,000+ for an emergency medical evacuation? The cost of a consultation, vaccines and medications, is often less than 1% of the total cost of a medical evacuation.
Bottom Line: A pre-travel appointment is a small investment that protects you from catastrophic health and financial losses.
