Common Ailment Consult

vwv pharmacist giving a common ailment consult from his virtual clinic

What Are Common Ailments?

Common ailments are uncomplicated health conditions that can be managed with minimal treatment and/or self-care strategies. The conditions are usually short-term, do not require lab results and have a low risk of treatment masking underlying more complex medical conditions.

Where Does The Assessment Take Place?

From the comfort of your own home/office our pharmacists will virtually assess your symptoms through a consultation. If we feel it is necessary, we will prescribe appropriate treatments and/or give advice regarding self-care strategies. If a prescription is issued, we will fax the prescription to a pharmacy of your choice.

Why Virtual Wellness Voyage?

You may be wondering what makes our Common Ailments program unique. As busy professionals, we understand that your time is valuable. Given our scope of practice as pharmacists if you have certain red-flag symptoms, unfortunately you will not be eligible for pharmacist-initiated care as these symptoms require a doctor’s visit. Unlike most Common Ailments programs which identify your red-flags during your consultation, we will identify your red-flags in our patient screening forms prior to the consultation while booking your appointment on our platform. At this point our platfrom will advise you to consult with a doctor, saving you time and money in the process.

How Does It Work?

From our booking system you can select a time suitable for you. At the time of your appointment, if it is a video appointment that you have selected you will use the link in your confirmation email to join the zoom call. If you have selected a phone appointment your consultant pharmacist will call you. Your consultation will generally take 10-15 minutes. If any medication is prescribed the prescription will be faxed to your pharmacy; or simply let one of our partner pharmacies send your medications right to your door for FREE (Ontario wide).
